  • you complete the Beneficiary Survey, which will be sent to the email address indicated in the financial agreement;
  • if applicable, you complete the second language proficiency test.

Online Linguistic Support (OLS) (click to open link)

OLS is a tool for assessing language competences and improving foreign language skills for participants in long-term Erasmus+ mobility – studies and traineeships abroad.

By signing the agreement for individual mobility funding, the student undertakes to:

  • complete the OLS language proficiency test before and after the mobility; failure to complete both tests in the system may result in the obligation to return part of the received grant to the University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Targ;
  • participate in an OLS language course, if a licence is granted.

The language proficiency test is mandatory for all students whose main language of instruction or working environment is English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Dutch, except for native speakers.

The OLS tool also offers the possibility to participate in an online language course.

Licences for online language courses are assigned to student mobility participants who wish to take part in such courses and should correspond to their language learning needs.

Insurance requirements

Incoming students for studies or Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)

Students coming to Poland should make sure, before the mobility begins, that they have appropriate insurance valid for the entire period of their stay. The coverage must include third-party liability, accidents and serious illness, as well as death and repatriation and, where relevant, risks associated with travel. The receiving institution does not purchase or finance individual insurance policies. Coverage may be provided by the sending institution, result from an existing insurance policy or be arranged independently by the participant. Participants eligible for the EHIC are strongly advised to hold a valid card.

Incoming students for traineeships

Trainees must have appropriate insurance coverage before starting work at the receiving organisation. Particular attention must be paid to coverage for accidents at the workplace and third-party liability for damage caused during the traineeship, in addition to appropriate health coverage and protection against the other risks associated with the mobility. The receiving institution does not purchase or finance individual insurance policies for trainees. If the required coverage is not provided by the sending institution or included in another existing insurance policy, the student must arrange it independently. The scope and arrangements for insurance should correspond to the information provided in the Learning Agreement for Traineeships. The EHIC is strongly recommended where applicable.

Incoming staff for teaching or training mobility

Appropriate insurance coverage throughout the entire stay in Poland is required for the safe implementation of the mobility. It should include third-party liability, accidents and serious illness, as well as death and repatriation and, where relevant, risks related to travel and luggage. The receiving institution does not purchase or finance individual insurance policies for incoming staff. Before arrival, participants should therefore make sure that the required coverage is provided by their sending institution, an existing insurance policy or insurance arranged independently by them. Participants eligible for the EHIC are strongly advised to hold a valid card.

Erasmus Policy Statement

Erasmus Policy Statement 2021-2027

Akademia Nauk Stosowanych w Nowym Targu (University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Targ) is a young University established in 2001, which aims at being a truly European institution based on European standards.

The mission of University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Targ is:

1) practical training and educating students to meet the needs of the information society and digitized economy based on knowledge, capable of creating new social and cultural values in the spirit of universal humanistic ideas,

2) providing the socio-economic environment with highly qualified specialists in selected disciplines of science in the field of humanities, social sciences, engineering and technical sciences, medical and health sciences, exact and natural sciences, wishing to engage in the social life on a local, regional, national and global level,

3) searching for the objective truth about the region, Poland, and the world thanks to the conducted scientific research and formulating and disseminating specialist scientific knowledge,

4) acting for the socio-economic advancement of Podhale with a sense of responsibility towards its inhabitants thanks to the participation of the PPUZ in discussing the problems of this region, promoting it outside, establishing cooperation, and proposing solutions improving its development.

As a current holder of the Extended Erasmus University Charter with a network of university European partners, we aim to advance our internationalization strategy through student and staff mobility, research collaboration, and cooperation in organizational management and development.

The most important objectives of PPUZ’s internationalization strategy in the years 2021-2027 are:

  • in relation to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students: Increasing the percentage of students who participate in learning mobilities in partner institutions (studies abroad for one semester). Additionally, since our institution is focused on educating students in applied sciences, and many courses have a practical profile, students are encouraged and supported to do internships abroad.
  • Staff and lecturer mobility: In regards to staff and lecturer mobility, the internationalization strategy will focus on encouraging staff who has not yet participated in the Erasmus+ programme to conduct teaching and training mobilities. Teaching mobility continues to be a priority: it is recognized that it forms a key part of staff development and widens international contacts. It provides an EU dimension for non-mobile students through visiting and returning lecturers and forges and consolidates links with partner institutions.

We also aim to establish and maintain bilateral contacts and sign agreements with universities of similar profiles in all participating countries. The cooperation will include: student exchange, teaching and administrative staff exchange, participation in conferences, common projects and seminars, joined scientific research, publication exchange.

Other objectives include:

  • Participation in education projects and research conducted in international teams financed by EU funds and other sources.
  • Participation in the European Higher Education Area.
  • Implementation of digital mobility management in line with the technical standards of the European Student Card Initiative, and promotion of environmentally friendly practices according to the „no paper waste” trend.
  • Implementation of new learning paths in English, improving teaching methods and curricula in view of the European dimension.
  • Expanding foreign language teaching and making it possible for students to obtain certificates recognized worldwide.

We respect the principles of non-discrimination, transparency and inclusion, as well as ensure equal and equitable access and opportunities to current and prospective participants from all backgrounds, paying particular attention to the inclusion of those with fewer opportunities.

We recognize all credits (based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System – ECTS) gained for learning outcomes satisfactorily achieved during a period of study/training abroad, including during blended mobility. We charge no fees, in the case of credit mobility, to incoming mobile students for tuition, registration, examinations or access to laboratory and library facilities.

Our institution implemented national qualifications framework for higher education. Approved learning outcomes are described in terms of knowledge, skills, and social competence. Students gain qualifications at three levels and two profiles (general academic profile and practical profile). The above is intended to help to improve the quality and relevance of teaching and training, that equip graduates with the knowledge and transferable core competencies they need to succeed in high-skill occupations.

Our strategy is to encourage the mobility of students and professors. ANS wants to provide more opportunities for students to gain additional skills through research and training abroad, and to encourage cross-border cooperation in order to increase the efficiency of higher education For several years PPUZ has been involved in the implementation of micro-projects of the Tatra Euroregion, which are related to improving the quality of education.

In order to strengthen the „knowledge triangle”, linking education, research, and business, ANS concentrates on:

  • Teaching with the use of real-life cases
  • Research agenda developed in tandem with end-users
  • Technological innovation (as our chemical laboratory and developing our health sciences infrastructure)
  • Knowledge exchange rather than knowledge transfer
  • Teaching programmes are strongly connected with labor-market/region needs.

Internationalization is an important part of ANS´s general strategy.

Some of the main goals of the Strategy are Excellent teaching, Innovative research, Cooperation with the socio-economic environment, Digitalization, Effective administration, Efficient management of the institution. Participation in the Erasmus+ programme will further the realization of those goals, through improving the quality of teaching and developing skills of lecturers, allowing additional training for the administrative staff, and establishing contacts with education/research institutions abroad.

The Erasmus+ Intuitional Coordinator is in charge of applying effective governance and funding mechanisms for all activities.

Support and accessibility

The University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Targ operates an Accessibility Centre, which cooperates with the University authorities and the academic community to increase the accessibility of the University for persons with disabilities and persons with special needs.

Within the Accessibility Centre, the following roles operate:

  • the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities,
  • the Accessibility Coordinator,
  • the Mental Health Support Coordinator,
  • the Teaching Assistant for Persons with Disabilities.

The Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities coordinates non-material and material support for students, staff members, and prospective students with disabilities and special needs. This support includes the organisation of classes and examinations, the lending of equipment, transport arrangements, and personal assistance. The Plenipotentiary conducts individual consultations and cooperates with University units and external institutions in adapting the organisation of education and implementing accessibility standards.

The Accessibility Coordinator supports persons with special needs in accessing University services. The Coordinator undertakes systemic actions aimed at increasing accessibility and also monitors the fulfilment of obligations arising from regulations on ensuring accessibility.

The Teaching Assistant for Persons with Disabilities provides ad hoc assistance in carrying out educational activities. This assistance includes support with mobility on the University premises and during classes. The Assistant also supports students with disabilities or special needs in completing formal procedures related to the educational process.

The Mental Health Support Coordinator undertakes activities in the field of mental health prevention for persons with disabilities and special needs and monitors and reports on their implementation. The Coordinator also cooperates with mental health support institutions.

Recognition of mobility outcomes

Participation in the Erasmus+ Programme is not only an opportunity to go abroad, but also a chance to gain knowledge, skills and experience that can be used in further education and professional life.

For students, the University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Targ ensures the recognition of learning outcomes achieved during mobility in accordance with the approved mobility programme and the applicable Erasmus+ rules. Students are informed about how their achievements should be documented and recognised, as well as about the importance of the competences gained during mobility for their further education and professional development.

For staff members, the experience and competences developed during teaching and training mobility are regarded as an important part of their professional development. Participants are informed about the opportunities to apply the knowledge and good practices acquired abroad in teaching, organisational and administrative work, as well as in strengthening the University’s international cooperation.

The University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Targ encourages participants to share the experience gained during their mobility and to make use of it in their further academic and professional activities.

Digital transformation

Digital solutions are an important part of the implementation of the Erasmus+ Programme at the University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Targ. They facilitate communication and access to documents and information, while also supporting the efficient organisation of the different stages of mobility.

Where permitted by the programme rules and the nature of the documentation, electronic solutions are used, including digital forms, electronic documents and online communication channels. These solutions help streamline administrative procedures, improve access to documentation and make it easier for participants to complete the formalities required before, during and after their mobility.

We are also continuously improving access to online information so that participation in the Programme is as simple and transparent as possible for both students and staff. The digitalisation of mobility procedures is intended not only to improve administrative processes, but also to make Erasmus+ documentation more accessible and enable participants to prepare the required documents more independently.

Students and staff are encouraged to make active use of digital technologies and tools when preparing for their mobility, during their stay abroad and after returning. This includes the use of digital learning materials, communication and educational platforms, online resources, as well as tools that support learning, international cooperation and communication with both the home and host institutions.

We promote the development of digital competences as skills that are valuable not only during Erasmus+ mobility, but also in further education and future professional life. The continued implementation of digital solutions supporting the Programme is also part of our efforts to simplify procedures and make Erasmus+ more accessible to the academic community.

Sustainable travel

Green travel is an Erasmus+ approach that encourages participants to choose more sustainable means of transport when travelling to and from their mobility destination. It applies to both students and staff participating in Erasmus+ mobility.

The aim of green travel is to reduce the environmental impact of international mobility and encourage participants to choose lower-emission means of transport. In practice, this may mean choosing public transport or other more sustainable travel options instead of flying.

Depending on the type of mobility and the applicable Erasmus+ funding rules, participants choosing green travel may be eligible for additional support related to travel costs or additional travel days needed to reach their mobility destination and return home.

How does green travel work?

Participants planning to travel to the University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Targ using green travel are encouraged to consider this option when organising their journey.

The exact rules concerning eligibility, financial support and the documents required to confirm green travel are determined by the participant’s home institution. Incoming students and staff should therefore contact their Erasmus+ coordinator or International Office at their home university for detailed information before travelling.

Examples of more sustainable means of transport include: train, bus or coach, car sharing, other forms of collective or low-emission transport recognised under the applicable Erasmus+ rules.

Choosing a more sustainable way of travelling makes it possible to combine international mobility with a more environmentally responsible approach. It also supports the Erasmus+ objectives related to sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of mobility.

We encourage incoming Erasmus+ participants to consider green travel already at the planning stage of their mobility.

Travelling by train, bus or another form of collective transport can not only reduce the environmental impact of the journey, but also offer an opportunity to experience more of the places along the way to Nowy Targ.
